Fresh from being crowned FIFA World Player of the Year, Lionel Messi has picked up yet another honour after his strike against Atlante in the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup semi-final was voted the Goal of the Tournament.

FIFA.com users bestowed Messi with this latest title, voting in their numbers for a memorable goal that witnessed the Barcelona ace score with his first touch after coming off the bench on 55 minutes. Messi had only just replaced Yaya Toure when he collected a great reverse pass from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, skipped round the goalkeeper and slotted home with his left foot to put the European champions 2-1 in front.

Messi's well-worked goal edged out TP Mazembe’s Ngandu Kasongo's 30-yard thunderbolt against Auckland City, while the New Zealanders' Chaad Coombes claimed third place for a long-range strike that helped put paid to Al Ahli. Over 2,500 users submitted their vote and FIFA.com would like to thank everyone who took part.
