You have been voting in your thousands for the best goal of the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2011 and, as with the tournament itself, Lionel Messi was the man who came out on top. The adidas Golden Ball winner’s brilliant opening goal in the 4-0 win over Santos finished comfortably ahead of Neymar’s sensational left-foot curler against Kashiwa Reysol, and a typically intricate team goal from Xavi, which took second and third place respectively.

A worthy winner it was too, with Messi providing a classy chipped finish at the culmination of a delightful move in which Xavi in particular provided a couple of sublime touches. You can watch the goal again here and relive all the unforgettable moments from Japan 2011 in our Highlights section. Thanks for voting.
