Argentinian side Velez Sarsfield claimed a key 2-1 victory at home to Chile's Union Espanola to keep alive their qualifying chances in the Copa Libertadores Group 4.
Striker Santiago Silva was the man of the night. In the 23rd minute a great shot forced Chilean keeper Lobos to spill, giving Emiliano Papa chance to grab the rebound and open the scoring.
In the second half, after Leandro Delgado had equalised, Silva showed up again to hit the winner with a header after an assist by Juan Manuel Martinez. The win takes Velez off the foot of the group to second.
In Group 2, Bolivia's Oriente Petrolero gained their first points in the competition as they beat Peru's Leon de Huanuco 2-0. Alcides Pena opened the scoring in the first half and Jhasmani Campos doubled the gap in the second.
Despite the win, Oriente Petrolero - who had lost all their previous four games - remain in last position in the group with no chances of qualification.
