Amicale's history-making appearance in the final of the OFC O-League will see the Vanuatu club host the first leg against New Zealand’s Auckland City at their Port Vila home ground.
Facing the two-time winners from New Zealand’s largest city is a daunting task although the first Vanuatu club to reach an O-League final will be buoyed by the fact that Hekari United played the opening leg at home last year. 12 months ago the Papua New Guinea club became the first club from outside New Zealand to win the competition when they defeated Auckland’s city rivals Waitakere United on aggregate thanks to a stunning home victory in the first leg.
Amicale will host the opening match on Saturday 2 April at PVL Stadium in Port Vila, while Auckland’s Kiwitea St will be the venue for the return leg on Sunday 17 April.
Amicale finished at the top of Group A, just a point clear of Koloale and two in front of Lautoka. Group B was far more clear cut with Auckland ending up six points ahead of nearest rivals Waitakere United.
The 2011 O-League champion will secure passage to December’s FIFA Club World Cup.
