Ramon Raya, Mexico coach
Russia were very strong physically and had more experience but we managed to hold them off and win the game. I'm really happy as this is a historic win - our first at a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. We weren't perfect by any means but today I'm not that interested in style, all I'm thinking about is how good it feels to win.
Nikolai Pisarev, Russia coach
We had a lot of chances but we didn't put them away. I think that we were the better team, physically as well, but we were too nervous. The fact that we did so well in Europe has put us under a lot of pressure and we succumbed to this in our first ever World Cup match. We'll have to get back on track against Solomon Islands.
Ricardo Villalobos, Mexico
I'm really emotional about scoring Mexico's first goal in a World Cup. The most important thing is that it helped the team to victory. We led, they came back but we never panicked, and we managed to get the win. Now we have to keep on in the same vein against Brazil and Solomon Islands.
Egor Shaykov, Russia
Mexico had two chances and scored two goals. We had a lot more but we couldn't take advantage of them. We're going to have to do something about not taking our chances. As a striker, my job is to score goals and unfortunately I only got the one. We just have to put this defeat behind us now and concentrate straight away on the next match against Solomon Islands.
