"This qualification was down to years of sacrifice. Today my players played an extraordinary game, although from a technical point of view Spain were the better team. I'm happy, very, very happy. Brazil are on another planet but if we play as we know we can, we can become world champions," Giancarlo Magrini, Italy coach.

"We played good football during this World Cup but not today. We have been strong defensively throughout the tournament, but today we made too many mistakes. Penalty shootouts are a lottery, we knew that going into the game," Cristian Torres, Spain player.
