Federico treble undoes Russia

Argentina came from behind twice to beat Russia 5-3 in their Group C opener. Federico Hilaire was the hero for Hector Petrasso's side, scoring twice in the final period to complete his hat-trick.

After a quiet start, Russia captain Ilya Leonov broke the deadlock. The goal prompted Argentina to attack, and they were rewarded when Ezequiel Hilaire equalised from the penalty spot on 11 minutes. His brother, Federico, then gave Argentina the lead soon into the second period, before two goals within 30 seconds from Egor Shaykov and Dmitry Shishin thrust the Europeans into the driving seat.

A Facundo Minici penalty restored parity, before Federico Hilaire added his second and third goals of a contest that roared to life during the last 12 minutes.
