Argentina beat United Arab Emirates 5-2 to take a huge step towards progression from Group C. Federico Hilaire and Cesar Leguizamon both scored doubles for the Albiceleste, although their principal star was goalkeeper Marcelo Salgueiro.

Santiago Hilaire broke the deadlock on five minutes, but Rami Al Mesaabi got United Arab Emirates on level terms with a forcefully-struck free-kick. Cesar Leguizamon restored Argentina's advantage, before the youngest of the three Hilaire brothers twice rippled the back of the UAE net.

However, Hector Petrasso's side owes a debt of gratitude to Salgueiro, who repeatedly thwarted United Arab Emirates' impressive attempts on his goal, two courtesy of eye-catching overhead-kicks by Bakhit Alabadla. A 33rd-minute Ibrahim Albalooshi penalty did hand the UAE a lifeline, but Leguizamon's second put the game beyond their reach. And with seconds remaining, Argentina's No1 capped a fine individual display by saving a penalty.
