The Brazilians bounced back from a slender opening victory over Ukraine to see off the Mexicans in style. However, it was Mexico who took a surprising lead with the first goal of the match through Morgan Plata.
Benjamin brought things level just two minutes later, though, slotting home a fine pass from Buru. Betinho then fired in from the right wing to give Brazil the advantage ahead of the second period.
After the restart, the floodgates opened for Brazil as they assumed control of the match. Andre struck from the spot before Buru headed home a finely nodded pass from Anderson. And in what was perhaps the best goal of the match, Jorginho, fired an overhead chance from the right flank over the outstretched Miguel Estrada in goal.
Plata scored his second to reduce arrears before the second period's end, but an uninspired performance in the third period gave Mexico little chance to get back into the match.
