Japan and Bahrain today became the latest teams to qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Dubai 2009 after winning through to the final of their continental qualifying competition. The Asian duo, who will now face off in tomorrow's final, saw off Iran and Oman respectively to guarantee their spots at the global spectacular, which kicks off later this month.
Justifying their position as top seeds at the continental showpiece, Japan became the first team to secure their place when they saw off Iran 5-3 in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Jumeriah Beach, Umm Sequim. Bahrain, meanwhile, had to come from a goal down against Oman, but ultimately cruised to a 6-1 victory.
The Asian title will now be decided at 18:00 local time, with both finalists going on to represent their continent at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup between 16 and 22 November.
