The LOC of Dubai 2009 visits the Home of FIFA

FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has said he will make every effort to attend the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Dubai next month and said that he believes it will be a phenomenal tournament.

Senior officials of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Tournament Director, Salah Tahlak, Deputy Tournament Director, Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al Zahed and Director of Communications, Ammar Al Yasin recently travelled to FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland for high level talks on the tournament.

Welcoming the LOC delegation, the FIFA President said that he was confident that Dubai was an unequivocal location for the Beach Soccer World Cup. "I have great expectations for the tournament. Dubai has a good track record for hosting major international events and the LOC team is doing an excellent job to ensure it is a great success," added the President Joseph S. Blatter.

Also in attendance at the meeting were other senior officials from FIFA and FIFA Beach Soccer who are instrumental in the Tournament, including Joan Cusco, Member of the FIFA Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee. During the meeting Joan Cusco expressed thanks to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al- Maktoum, patron of the tournament, for his invaluable support and commitment to the success of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Dubai.

Also on the agenda at the Zurich meeting were the preparations for an official FIFA visit to Dubai in the next few days, when Joan Cusco and his team will take a tour of the especially designed, temporary, 6,000 seated stadium, set to be the largest Beach Soccer stadium ever built and three times bigger than the previous site for the Asian Qualifiers.

"There is a tremendous amount of work involved in staging an event of this magnitude, but we are very happy with how things are progressing," said Salah Tahlak. "Combining the flair that only Dubai can bring to such occasions with the seasoned experience of our FIFA colleagues and the best beach soccer players in the world, gives us all the ingredients for a successful showcase. But not forgetting the spectators of course."

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Dubai 2009 will be held from 16 to 22 November, under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council.
