Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire book passage

Nigeria and Côte d'Ivoire will represent Africa at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Dubai 2009, after their successes at the CAF qualifier tournament which is being played in Durban, South Africa.

Nine participating countries were split into three groups and followed a round robin format. The three first and the best second-placed team advanced to the semi-finals, with the two winners earning places in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2009 Dubai.

After emerging victorious from two group matches against Mauritius [0-13] and Egypt [6-5], Nigeria went on to beat Senegal 7-6 in the semi-final. The match was hard-fought, but in the end Olawale's tenth goal in the competition was enough to assure Nigeria's ticket to Dubai.

Before beating Egypt in their semi-final match, Côte d'Ivoire topped their group by slipping past both South Africa and Morocco on identical scorelines of 7-6.

Nigeria and Côte d'Ivoire will play the final on Sunday at 15:00 [local time], preceded by the match for third place between Senegal and Egypt at 13:45.
