Italy claim Europe's final ticket

Italy beat France 4-2 in the last match of the playoffs to collect the last ticket for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Dubai 2009, to be played in November.

With Spain, Russia, Portugal and Switzerland already qualified after reaching the semifinals of the tournament held in Castellón, Spain, the Azzurri did enough to become the fifth and final member of the European delegation headed to Dubai 2009.

With the loss, France, who won the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Rio de Janiero 2005, are now left to relinquish their quest for the most coveted beach soccer trophy in the world.

In a match full of tension and action, Italy clinched the fifth spot and the last ticket to the finals in November. Pasquale Carotenuto guided his side with three goals and was the top scorer of the tournament with 24 goals.

Host Spain retained the title at home in style, edging Russia after a marathon of penalties.
