Côte d'Ivoire rallied from behind to beat El Salvador 7-6 in their Group B opener at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Dubai 2009. It took Ludovic Ehounou just eight seconds to open the scoring, and his fifth of the game, 48 seconds from its finish, snatched the Africans victory from an engrossing contest.
Goals from Tomas Hernandez, Agustin Ruiz and Walter Torres, as well as a brace from Frank Velasquez, had put El Salvador 5-1 up before the 11-minute mark. Daniel pulled one back before the first break, and goals from Ludovic and Frederic Aka brought to Ivorians to within one goal of their opponents before the second period was out.
The final 12 minutes belonged to the Côte d'Ivoire No9. Indeed, he scored twice to grab his side the lead and, after Hernandez had equalised for El Salvador, Ludovic fired home past impressive goalkeeper Luis Rodas to steal the points.
Côte d'Ivoire and El Salvador will play their second matches tomorrow, against Japan and Spain respectively.
