It’s Thursday and for FIFA Match Predictors that means two things: Getting your predictions in before the midnight deadline and, of course, our weekly interview with one of our recent round winners!

Today’s interview subject is Round 8 winner devanir1973. The Brazilian predictor chatted to us about football, making friends and learning from your mistakes.

FIFA.com: Can you tell us a little about yourself?
devanir1973: I live in a small southern city in Brazil named Assis Chateaubriand. I’ve also lived in Portugal. I love football. At work we always discuss match results passionately and through these discussions I find that I am constantly learning.

You have had enjoyed solid returns in the opening 9 rounds, except for Round 7 when you scored only 29 points. Can you talk us through your Round 7? What went wrong and how did you come back so strong in Round 8?
Round 7 was a round of international fixtures and I didn’t study much. After that poor result, I thought to myself ‘I am going to always analyze all the teams and matches!’ My strategy has really worked so far.

You’re doing very well in most of the private leagues you are involved in. What do you enjoy about the private leagues?
You land up becoming friends with people from all over the world and that’s what’s most important. I’d like to say hi to all my friends in the private leagues, I’m rooting for you all!

How much time do you spend on making your predictions each week?
In all seriousness, with researching and analyzing, about 3 days.

Nine rounds into your first season of FIFA Match Predictor, what have you learnt about the game so far?
For me it’s important to interact with fans from all over the world. This game is very exciting and the best I have played so far. It’s really a game that helps you to make friends and for me it’s important that it always stays like that.
