Weekend highlights
Werder Bremen all but destroyed Schalke 04’s Bundesliga title hopes this weekend. The 2-0 defeat at home (69 points) put Schalke three points-adrift of league leaders Bayern Munich with a 17-goal deficit to make up in their last game of the season. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s convincing 2-0 win at Liverpool (48 points) ensured that the Blues are one win away from their first English Premier league title in four seasons.

In Japan, Albirex Niigata finally snagged their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory at Vissel Kobe (76 points). Despite a disappointing 2009/10 campaign, Porto beat rivals Benfica 3-1 in the Estadio do Dragao (55 points). In the Republic of Ireland Sporting Fingal pushed Sligo Rovers into the relegation zone with a slender 1-0 win (70 points).
