kammer held off a late charge by Saururrex at the weekend to win the 2008/09 FIFA World Leagues Predictor and its grand prize: a trip for two to this year's FIFA World Player Gala, complete with return flights, gala tickets and hotel accommodation, and a visit to the Home of FIFA.
The German only managed two correct predictions from his ten attempts in the final round, but crucially scored bonus points for foreseeing Sporting Gijon's relegation-sparing 2-1 win over Recreativo Huelva. Thanks to Luis Moran's 67th-minute winner, kammer finished 56 points above his Mexican rival, who spent 15 matchdays in pole position.
Lowest placing: 8th
Best return: 511 points in Round 16
Worst return: 42 points in Round 24
Second-placed rounds: 10
First-placed rounds: 4
kammer remained in the top ten on the overall leaderboard throughout the entire season. However, despite coming second in Round 1, he did not hit the front until usurping Saururrex in Round 34.
krasjos ends on a high
kammer may have emerged triumphant, but not once did he get his hands on the weekly prize of a signed FIFA World Cup™ winner's jersey. That was what krasjos earned himself in Round 37. It took the Round 37 winner ten accurate predictions and bonus points to beat runner-up enrique.08, who finished just 30 points behind the round leader.
An honorable mention must go to joe10mark, who joined the FIFA World Leagues Predictor in the final round and managed to finish third in the weekly standings.
The competition will now take a two-month break but, in the meantime, be sure to engage in the fun of the McDonald's FIFA World Cup Fantasy and Predictor games. FIFA.com would like to thank you all for participating, and looks forward to welcoming you into the 2009/10 FIFA World Leagues Predictor.
