At its meeting of July 23, the FIFA Referee's Committee appointed the referee and assistant referees for the opening game of the FIFA Confederations Cup in Jalisco Stadium, Guadalajara.
Gilberto Alcala of Mexico will officiate the match between Brazil and Germany. The assistants will be Vladimir Bertiaga of Panama and Peter Kelly of Trinidad & Tobago.
The other match of the opening double-header, between New Zealand and USA, will be officiated by Ubaldo Aquino of Paraguay. Suresh Behari of Fiji and Domingo Pequenino of Mozambique will be the assistant referees.
The Committee further approved of the results of yesterday's fitnesstest also taking into account the high altitude and the fact that thereferees and assistants had only been in the country for a short while.
The next meeting of the Referee's Committee is scheduled for 31 July when theappointments for the last rounds of group matches will be announced.
