The second Goal project
The multipurpose centre in Mandalay, erected as part of the first Goal project, is fully operative and in frequent use. The second project approved by the Goal Bureau on 22 September 2004 is for the construction of a football academy in the capital, Rangoon. It is intended to hone the football skills of talented youngsters primarily from country areas at the same time as enabling them to receive a basic education. Apart from concentrating on 10- to 16-year-old top talent, the academy will offer training courses for coaches, referees, administrators and physiotherapists. The project will be funded from a variety of sources and is due to be opened in 2006.
