GOAL Programme - Botswana Football Association - 2009
(FIFA.com) Thursday 26 November 2009
Football is Botswana
's favourite sport. While the national team has not yet enjoyed any tangible success on the field, it has in recent years improved considerably on the 154th place it occupied in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking in 2001. The names of two men are inextricably linked with the fortunes of Botswanan football: Major Stanley Tshosane, the current coach of the national team (the Zebras), and Captain Lesika Keatlholetswe, the technical director of the Botswanan FA. Keatlholetswe was the man who introduced U-5 - U-17 youth development programmes and also initiated major improvements to the level of education received by the coaches of youth teams in Botswana
's major cities and villages.
On 2 June 2009, the Goal Bureau approved the Botswana
Football Association's second project. This project involves building an extension to the technical centre built as part of Botswana
's first Goal project. The new building will house dormitories, a conference room, a cafeteria and a sports hall for the national teams.
