A bronze statue of the former Netherlands international, who represented the Gunners between 1995 and 2006, was unveiled at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. It depicts Bergkamp showcasing his revered aerial control, which helped him score unforgettable goals against Leicester City in the Premier League and Argentina in the 1998 FIFA World Cup France™.
"I spoke to Thierry Henry last night and he warned me about this moment,” explained Bergkamp upon seeing the monument. “He said, ‘You’ll be fine until you have to talk a little bit, and then you’ll get emotional', and that’s what’s happening to me now.
"All this makes you realise how many good years we had here and how big this club has become over the last 20 years. I was just happy to play a role in that.”
