Marek Hamsik was born in Banska Bystrica, which, located on the Hron River and encompassed by hulking mountains, is cold for much of the year.

The 26-year-old Slovakia captain has been anything but cold this past week. Hamsik was representing Napoli, whom he joined from Brescia in 2007, in the Emirates Cup – in a country that’s experiencing one of its hottest summers in decades!

So, when the attacking midfielder was warming up before the two-time Italian champions’ meeting with Porto on Sunday in London, England, he was more than happy to jog between the water sprinklers – as seen in the above photo.

Hamsik came on as a half-time substitute as Napoli, who drew their first game 2-2 with Arsenal, then lost 3-1 to Porto.

Galatasaray emerged as the surprise winners of the four-team tournament, following up their 1-0 reverse of the Portuguese giants by overcoming Arsenal 2-1 courtesy of Didier Drogba’s late double.
