On 16 July 1950, South American rivals Brazil and Uruguay met in the FIFA World Cup™ final round in Rio de Janeiro. Almost exactly 63 years later, FIFA.com relives the title decider in this edition of Video of the Week.

The tournament hosts were favourites going into the tie, which was staged in front of an official crowd of 173,850 at the iconic Estadio Maracana. However, despite taking the lead just minutes into the second half, A Seleção were ultimately beaten by La Celeste.

In this video we speak to some of the match's key players and look back on a defeat that still grates in Brazil, with the nation seeking to put past demons to bed when they host the FIFA World Cup again next year.
