Bayern Munich were all smiles after beating Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup on Friday evening. And they were all smiles on Sunday too – as the above picture of Javi Martinez, who scored that decisive 11th-hour extra-time equaliser in Prague, and Bastian Schweinsteiger shows.
The duo were enjoying hammering nails in a traditional German game – and hammering is something Bayern got quite used to last season. They won by five goals or more six times in their 34 Bundesliga games, including a 9-2 destruction of Hamburg, beat Wolfsburg 6-1 in the DFB-Pokal semi-finals, and recorded a legendary 7-0 aggregate victory over Barcelona in the last four of the UEFA Champions League.
This term the team now coached by Pep Guardiola haven’t won by more than two goals, but how long before that changes?
