The 70th Blue Stars/FIFA Youth Cup was a thrilling tournament. In FC Zurich and FC Basel two Swiss teams contested the final, having between them eliminated prestigious clubs such as Manchester United, Hamburg, Grasshopper Zurich, Flamengo and Partizan Belgrade en route.

Approximately 8,000 spectators followed the action over two days, witnessing plenty of goals, great saves, exciting matches and a final that could not have been more spectacular.

Zurich had last won the competition in 1949 and after just seven minutes of the final they did not look like changing that, as Basel raced to a 2-0 lead. However, Admir Mehmedi, now of Dynamo Kiev, was not content to accept the seemingly imminent defeat. The striker scored two goals in as many minutes to pull Zurich level and subsequently netted the winner shortly before the final whistle.

Let take you back four years to relive the highlights of the 2008 tournament, while the current crop of youngsters battle for supremacy at the Buchlern Sport Complex.
