Chivas edge closer to continental crown

A second-half winner from Alan Pulido has given Chivas Guadalajara a crucial 2-1 away win in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final in freezing conditions on Tuesday.

Chivas, who are seeking to win their first continental title since 1962, made a dream start as Rodolfo Pizarro netted in just the second minute.

Toronto, however, drew level 17 minutes later as Jonathan Osorio netted his fourth goal of the campaign by turning in Marky Delgado’s low cross at the back post.

But the decisive moment of the match came amid snow flurries with 18 minutes remaining, as Pulido whipped in a free-kick from near the sideline which sailed over goalkeeper Alex Bono.

The winner will represent CONCACAF in the FIFA Club World Cup in December in United Arab Emirates.
