Draw date for African qualifiers

The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that the draw for its final round of Men’s Olympic Football Tournament qualifiers will take place on 24 September.

Hosts Egypt are among eight teams due to take part in the event, which will run from 26 November to 10 December. The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals.

Three spots at London 2012 are up for grabs, with the two finalists and the winner of the match for third place guaranteed of their places at next year's games.

Algeria, Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa are the other nations still in the race for an Olympic berth. The draw will take place in Cairo at 12 noon local time.
