The FIFA Confederations Cup marked an important beginning for Continental.

The FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 was an exciting time for Continental, marking as it did the eve of a new application launch that will create buzz all the way through to next year's FIFA World Cup™.

It will also result in some lucky people winning trips to Brazil in 2014!

Our focus was not only on the game but also on information

The Passing Game

Continental's free ContiRioKick app, which was made available from the beginning of July and announced via the tyre manufacturer's Contisoccer online offering, encourages players to start the longest-possible sequences of virtual passes between friends.

Points are awarded for each pass – and the longer the sequence of passes, the more points for each player. The monthly draw for the 11 best players offers prizes such as a trip for two to a FIFA World Cup™ match, including flights and accommodation.

Of course, all players can see at any time how well they have been passing the ball by viewing their current ranking. Every month, the 11 best players are guaranteed to win one of the highly attractive prizes on offer, and further prizes will be given away through various special promotions. The app also provides some fascinating information on the FIFA World Cup™ and fans can subscribe to a newsletter providing regular information on the FIFA World Cup™, as well as special promotions.

"For us, the app is one of the best ways to convey our commitment as an official sponsor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ and give the best virtual passers among fans the opportunity to attend a FIFA World Cup match," says Continental Head of eBusiness Dirk Rockendorf.

He added: "Here, our focus was not only on the game but also on information. We also want to use the new app to encourage networking, which is highly important to us as a company in our day-to-day business."

Continental Style

Continental was also extremely popular with its dealers and their guests and invitations to attend FIFA Confederations Cup matches were eagerly accepted. Continental branding was also featured comprehensively, including infotainment spots on the giant screens inside the stadiums, perimeter boards, advertisements in the Official Programme, Host City dressing, outdoor media and at various press conference locations in the lead-up and during the tournament.
