Cristiano rescues holders, five-star Liverpool rout Porto

Liverpool travelled to Porto, while holders Real Madrid hosted Paris Saint-Germain in UEFA Champions League Round of 16, first leg action on Wednesday.

There was a star-studded encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu as Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid took on Neymar's high-flying PSG. Real Madrid came from behind to win 3-1 thanks to a double from their Portuguese superstar, setting up an intriguing second leg in Paris on 6 March.

Over in Porto, Liverpool cruised to a 5-0 victory thanks to a Sadio Mane hat-trick. The Portuguese giants came into the match on a 24-game unbeaten run but it ended with their heaviest European home defeat in their history.
