The January transfer window reached its climax on Thursday with clubs across the globe working right up to the last minute to acquire and offload players before the opportunity passed.
FIFA.com was there to bring you extensive coverage of all the transfers as soon as they were confirmed. The live commentary began at 07.30 GMT on Thursday and ended at 23.40 GMT the same day, with last-minute deals still being confirmed after the window had closed at 23.00 GMT.

23.21 GMT - New QPR midfielder Jermaine Jenas has been speaking on Twitter about signing his 18-month deal. He said: "Finally home after a long day just wanna say a big thank you to all the Spurs fans that have supported me during my 7 years at the club. Delighted to have joined QPR and looking forward to getting started tomorrow at training and seeing all you fans on Saturday!"
23.09 GMT - Arsenal have confirmed the signing of defender Nacho Monreal from Malaga for an undisclosed fee on a long-term contract. The Spaniard, who predominantly plays at left-back, has made nine appearances for his national side and was welcome by manager Arsene Wenger.
"We are delighted that Nacho Monreal has agreed to join us," Wenger said. "We have been monitoring him for some time now and are really pleased that we’ve been able to agree this move today. Monreal is a strong left-sided defender with good experience at both club and international level."

22.56 GMT - QPR have finalised the permanent signing of midfielder Jermaine Jenas on an 18-month contract and the loan signing of winger Andros Townsend until the end of the season. Jenas told the club's official website: “I’m happy to be here. This is my third deadline-day move. It’s always frantic, but thankfully we’ve managed to get it done.”
“It’s no secret I’ve had some injury problems in the last couple of years," he continued. "But this is a great opportunity for me to play in the Premier League – and hopefully keep this club where they belong.”
22.36 GMT - Stoke City have confirmed the signing of England international goalkeeper Jack Butland on a permanent deal from Birmingham City. He has signed a four-and-a-half year contract worth up to £3.5m and will head back to Birmingham on loan for the rest of the season. The 19-year-old custodian made his international debut against Italy last year in a friendly.
22.31 GMT - Fulham have signed Cameroonian midfielder Eyong Enoh on loan from Ajax until the end of the season. The 26-year-old has 27 caps for his country and played in the UEFA Champions League against Manchester City earlier this season.
22.30 GMT - Newcastle's Spanish striker Xisco has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
22.22 GMT - Everton have finalised the signing of 18-year-old defender John Stones from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee. The England U-19 international has signed a five-and-a-half year deal and told the club's official website: "I am very excited to be joining Everton. I've been very impressed with everything I have seen at Finch Farm already. Now the hard work begins."
22.20 GMT - 30-year-old French midfielder Mathieu Bodmer has moved to Saint-Etienne from Paris Saint-Germain on loan until the end of the season.
22.02 GMT - We're into the final hour and there have been a couple of loan deals finalised in Europe. Ajax have snapped up 21-year-old forward Isaac Cuenca from Barcelona until the end of the season, and Tottenham winger Simon Dawkins has moved to Aston Villa on a five-month loan deal.
21.38 GMT - New Stoke City winger Brek Shea is looking forward to playing in England's top flight. He spoke to stokecityfc.com: "I like the style of play in English football – it’s fast, it’s up and down and it suits me well," he said. " I like to attack and get forward, and sometimes I can be exciting! I have good speed and a little bit of skill."
21.23 GMT - USA International Brek Shea has completed his move to Stoke City from MLS side FC Dallas in a deal worth £2.5m. The 22-year-old winger signs a four-and-a-half year deal at the Britannia Stadium. He told stokecityfc.com: “It’s been up and down, trying to figure out what’s going on," he said. "But I’m here now and ready to go. It’s one of the best leagues in the world, and I’m excited to be here and hopefully I can contribute."
21.03 GMT - West Ham midfielder Alou Diarra has moved to Stade Rennais on loan until the end of the season. The French international has almost 50 caps for his country and the former Bordeaux and Marseille midfielder has made three league appearances for the Hammers.
20.23 GMT - Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that young attacking midfielder Ryan Mason has joined FC Lorient in Ligue 1 on loan until the end of the season. The 21-year-old moves to France after three appearances for the first team in cup competitions this season.
19.23 GMT - Liverpool have confirmed that goalkeeper Alexander Doni has signed for Brazilian side Botafogo on a free transfer. He has not played for the club since the final game of the 2011/12 season and he made four first-team appearances for the Anfield outfit.
19.13 GMT - Fulham have completed the signing of Bulgarian international full-back Stanislav Manolev on loan until the end of the season. He told fulhamfc.com: "I know Martin Jol already because when I came to Holland, we played against Ajax when he was the coach. I hope that if I play well here then I will be able to stay beyond the summer." The defender has represented his country on 29 occasions, and will join up with compatriot Dimitar Berbatov at Craven Cottage.
18.58 GMT - Ligue 2 side Monaco have confirmed the signing of Toulouse forward Emmanuel Riviere on a four and a half year contract. The French forward has played at all youth levels for his country and scored his last goal for Toulouse in a 2-0 win over Sochaux in December.
18.39 GMT - USA international Brek Shea has been granted a work permit for his move to Stoke City after a successful appeal at Wembley today. The club confirmed on their official website that manager Tony Pulis was in attendance at the hearing and that they hope to finalise the winger's move by the deadline at 23.00 GMT.
18.25 GMT - Valencia have announced that midfielder Fernando Gago has moved to Argentinian side Velez Sarsfield on a six-month loan deal. The holding midfielder has almost 50 caps for his national side and moved to the Mestalla last year. His most recent appearance in a Valencia shirt was against former side Real Madrid in a 5-0 defeat earlier this month.
18.00 GMT - The transfer window has now CLOSED in Italy. Clubs can still sell players, but the country's teams will see no more arrivals. Italy has seen Mario Balotelli and Giuseppe Rossi come back to the country during the window, with Wesley Sneijder, Alexandre Pato and Phillippe Coutinho all departing for pastures new.
17.43 GMT - Tottenham have announced that Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has joined German side Hoffenheim on loan until the end of the season. Gomes was a member of his country's 2010 FIFA World Cup™ squad in South Africa, and has not played for Spurs since November 2011.
17.25 GMT - After unveiling David Beckham at a press conference, Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that former Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko will join Fiorentina on loan until the end of the season.
17.19 GMT- Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of 17-year-old Swiss defender Kevin Mbabu from Servette on a three-and-a-half year deal. The defender has played for Switzerland at U-19 level and told the club's official website: "Today is a big day for me. I've always wanted to sign for a club in the Premier League and Newcastle is one of the biggest there is."
17.05 GMT - David Beckham has some interesting and remarkable news about his Paris Saint-Germain wage over the course of his five month contract. In the press conference announcing Beckham as a PSG player, the former England captain said: "My salary will go towards a local children's charity in Paris. I won't receive any. This is something new and very exciting. We took the decision to give the salary to a charity together."
17.03 GMT - Napoli have signed Porto defender Rolando on loan until the end of the season, the Serie A club have confirmed.
16.50 GMT - Beckham continued, "I chose Paris because I can see what the club are trying to do, the players that the club are trying to bring in. It's an exciting city, it always has been and always will be. It's a club that is going to have a lot of success in the next 10, 15, 20 years. For now, to be part of something that is growing is something that is very exciting to me. I'm very honoured that I have been picked to be part of the future of PSG. I am very excited."
16.42 GMT - David Beckham has arrived for his press conference to announce his arrival as a Paris Saint-Germain player. He says he is "excited, [the deal is] something that we have been working on and talking about for quite a while. My wife and children will be staying in London, because the children go to school there." Beckham said that he has "received more offers now than he has ever had in his career."
16.39 GMT - After finalising the arrival of their new striker Danny Graham today, Sunderland have confirmed that Louis Saha, who joined on a free transfer in the summer, has had his contract terminated by mutual consent. Chief executive Margaret Byrne said “We wish Louis all the very best for the future and thank him for his contribution to Sunderland.”
16.20 GMT - Sunderland players have been giving their reaction on Twitter to new signing Danny Graham. Titus Bramble has said: "Very happy that Danny Graham has signed for us. A very good player who will score lots of goals for us. A great addition to the squad." Midfielder Craig Gardner earlier posted: "Buzzing Danny Graham has signed, class player and heard he's a top bloke as well."
16.06 GMT - Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Yacouba Sylla from French Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot. The 22-year-old midfielder will wear the No18 shirt and he has told the club's official website that he is "very excited about the prospect of playing for Aston Villa and also to be playing in the Premier League."
15.33 GMT - Press Association have reported that David Beckham has passed his medical with Paris Saint-Germain, the player's representatives are confirming. He is expected to be presented to the media at a press conference in Paris at 16.00 GMT.
15.07 GMT - Veteran Turkish midfielder Emre Belozoglu has left Atletico Madrid to return to Fenerbahce, a little over six months after making the move the other way.
The Turkish club have confirmed the deal on their website, with assistant coach Ismail Karat welcoming the 32-year-old back. "Emre's quality is hard to find in a player," he said. "He is a player with great leadership quality, with self-confidence. Throughout his career he has gained experience which will be valuable to the team."
14.32 GMT - Cagliari have confirmed the signing of Uruguayan midfielder Matias Cabrera, the Italian club have announced. The 26-year-old has joined the Serie A relegation-battlers for an undisclosed fee from Uruguayan side Nacional.
14.18 GMT - Levante sign Greek defender Loukas Vyntra has signed a deal until the summer of 2014 following his release from Panathinaikos.
14.06 GMT - Danny Graham has signed for Sunderland from Swansea City.
13.57 GMT - Fede Fernandez has joined Getafe on loan from Napoli for the rest of the season. The 23-year-old defender, capped 11 times by Argentina, has welcomed a chance to play in Spain.
13.33 GMT - Inter Milan have signed Zdravko Kuzmanovic and posted photos of him on their official website! After three and a half seasons at Stuttgart, the Serbian midfielder arrived at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti this morning to train with his new team-mates for the first time.
13.17 GMT - Liverpool forward Daniel Pacheco has joined Sociedad Deportiva Huesca on loan until the end of the season.
13.03 GMT - QPR have forked out a club record fee to secure the signing of Anzhi defender Christopher Samba on a four-and-a-half year deal.
12.41 GMT - Fulham have confirmed the loan signing of Urby Emanuelson from AC Milan until the end of the season. Fulham manager Martin Jol said of the player: "I coached him at Ajax. He is a skilful player, very agile. He is very mobile, quick. He can play left midfield, wide, play No10, so I feel we need fresh legs."
12.29 GMT - Bastia have brought in former Sochaux centre-back Jacques Faty for the rest of the season. Senegal international Faty strengthens their defensive department and joins on loan from Turkish side Sivasspor, to whom he is contracted until the end of the 2013/14 campaign.
12.25 GMT - Real Zaragoza have announced that they have signed 22-year-old forward Rodri on loan from Barcelona 'B'. The former Sevilla forward had a medical this morning before joining his new team-mates in training.
12.11 GMT - Lyon defensive midfielder Sidy Kone has joined Ligue 2 promotion hopefuls Caen on loan for the rest of the season. The 20-year-old Malian's temporary move was confirmed by Caen on their official website, with the club stating they do not have an option to buy the player in the summer.
12.07 GMT - Norwich City have signed striker Luciano Becchio from Leeds United in a swap deal for Steve Morison.
Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle have loaned Mateusz Klich from VfL Wolfsburg on loan midfielder Mateusz Klich. The 22-year-old Pole arrived at Wolfsburg in the summer of 2011 . Additionally, the Dutch side have brought in Runar Mar Sigurjonsson, also 22, from Icelandic side Valur on loan until the end of the season - with the option to extend it to a two-year deal.
12.05 GMT - Real Valladolid have confirmed the signing of winger Rama Valdet from Swedish club Orebro. The 25-year old has agreed a deal until the end of the season with an option to extend it if he is able to impress in La Liga. He is Valladolid's second signing from the Allsvenskan this month following the arrival of Daniel Larsson from Malmo.
11.59 GMT - Robert Acquafresca has completed a deal to join Levante from Bologna, with the 25-year-old striker telling the club's website he is happy to have completed negotiations.
11.49 GMT - Palermo confirm signings of Alessandro Faurlin from Queens Park Rangers on loan and Diego Fabbrini from Udinese. Both of whom will be unveiled by the club tomorrow.
11.30 GMT - Lazio have confirmed the signing of former Portugal Under-21 international Bruno Pereirinha.
11.18 GMT - Some news from Germany. Stuttgart have signed Romanian international Alexandru Iulian Maxim from Pandurii Targu Jiu for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old has signed a contract until 2017. Meanwhile, Nuremberg have confirmed the signing of Mu Kanazaki from J.League club Nagoya Grampus. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder joins Hiroshi Kiyotake as the second Japanese international at the Frankenstadion.
11.10 GMT - Granada have completed the signing of Diego Buonanotte from Malaga. The Argentinian midfielder has agreed a four-and-a-half year deal, according to Malaga's website.
10.23 GMT - Torino have completed the loan signing of Pescara forward Jonathas until the end of the season, after the 23-year-old Brazilian only found the net once this season for the relegation-threatened side.
10.21 GMT - Mario Balotelli's move to AC Milan has now been confirmed by Manchester City. The Italian international has signed a deal until the end of June 2017.
10.15 GMT - FC 1.Kaiserslautern have loaned Ilian Micanski and Leon Jessen to FC Indolstadt.
10.09 GMT - Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed on their official website that youth academy graduate Adrien Rabiot has gone on loan to Toulouse until the end of the season. The side from the capital also stae there is no option to purchase the midfielder at the end of the loan spell.
09.53 GMT - McDonald Mariga has returned to Parma on loan from Inter Milan for the rest of the season. The Kenyan international midfielder returns to i Gialloblu for a third time, who have the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
09.46 GMT - Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that midfielder Paul Scharner is to rejoin the club on loan from Hamburg until the end of the season.
09.40 GMT - Portuguese champions FC Porto have secured the signing of 15 per cent of a very exciting talent - their current playmaker-in-chief Joao Moutinho. They club now own the player outright.
09.32 GMT - One player who looks unlikely to be making a last-minute move is Fiorentina goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano, whose agent has confirmed he will remain at La Viola until the end of the season at least.
09.27 GMT - Stuttgart have signed 22-year-old Romanian versatile midfielder Alexandru Maxim on a deal until 2017 from Pandurii Targu-Jiu.
09.02 GMT - Anzhi Makhachkala defender Christopher Samba has completed a medical at Queens Park Rangers.

08.18 GMT - Palermo have completed the signing of Newell's Old Boys winger Mauricio Sperduti, tying the 26-year-old down to a three-and-a-half year contract the club confirmed on its website.
08.08 GMT - Genoa have confirmed on their website the additions of defenders Mattia Cassani and Daniele Portanova, while loaning out two players.
Cassani has joined on loan from Fiorentina with the potential for the move to be made permanent at the end of the season. Portanova joins on a permanent deal from Bologna.
Meanwhile, the club also announced that 20-year-old defender Mario Sampirisi has been loaned to Chievo while young forward Leonardo Melazzi has returned to Danubio in his native Uruguay, also on loan.
07.52 GMT - Dinamo Zagreb's 18-year-old playmaker Mateo Kovacic is due to have a medical today ahead of a move to Inter Milan, the Croatian club have confirmed.
"It all happened so fast and I'm still in shock, I do not even know what to say," the Croatian U-21 international said. "Dinamo is my club and my home, so I find it hard to leave, but an offer from a club like Inter Milan, one of the biggest in the world, cannot be refused. Of course, it's not over and I'm waiting for my medical examination, but I believe this is just a formality."
07.47 GMT - Mario Balotelli's proposed move to AC Milan - where he looks set to wear the No45 shirt - is one of the biggest moves of the January transfer window, but as he arrives he may be passed by Urby Emanuelson, who Fulham manager Martin Jol is keen on signing.
"He can play left midfield, wide, play number ten, [and] I feel we need fresh legs," Jol said. "I coached him at Ajax. He is a skilful player, very agile. He is very mobile and quick."
