In-form Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has been making his mark at the start of the new English Premier League season, scoring four goals already, while his national team compatriot and hat-trick specialist Edinson Cavani has been hammering home with regularity in Serie A. FIFA.com wants to know which of these renowned goalscorers is your favourite and why.
Recognised for his contribution during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, scoring three goals on Uruguay’s road to a fourth-place finish before being sent off in the quarter-finals, Suarez has been labelled both hero and villain. However, he has made an early impact at club level with Liverpool, lauded by manager Kenny Dalglish for his contributions since signing with the club in January 2011. The technically-gifted frontrunner has played a role in all Liverpool’s points collected this season, scoring in every match the Premier League club has either drawn or won.
His opposite number at club level, Cavani, meanwhile, recently made a name for himself in the record books as he netted a treble in a 3-1 Napoli victory over AC Milan, a feat establishing him as the first player to score a hat-trick in Serie A against I Rossoneri since Gabriel Batistuta did the same in September 1998. The goalscorer has recorded an impressive four trebles in 2011, inspiring Napoli to a successful start to the 2011/2012 season.
