Laos and Philippines have edged out Cambodia on goal difference to qualifer for December’s ASEAN Cup; the biennial tournament which determines supremacy in south-east Asia.
The pair will join six other nations in the tournament to be co-hosted by Vietnam and Indonesia between 1-29 December.
Laos, Philippines and Cambodia all finished on five points having drawn with each other and defeating Timor Leste in each of their three matches in the qualifying tournament played in Vientiane, Laos which concluded on Tuesday.
Laos topped the pile by virtue of goals scored after both they and Philippines had recorded a goal difference of 5 ahead of Cambodia with 2. The unlucky Cambodians missing out after playing out a scoreless draw in their final outing against Philippines while Laos saw off Timor Leste 6-1.
Philippines will face holders Vietnam, Singapore and Myanmar at this year's ASEAN Cup, while Laos have a tougher ask having been pitted alongside Bryan Robson’s Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
