Trinidad and Tobago-Bahrain (16 November 2005)
Bahrain appeared in pole position to reach their maiden FIFA World Cup™ after a 1-1 draw away to Trinidad and Tobago in the first leg of their play-off for a place at Germany 2006. However, towering defender Dennis Lawrence emerged as the unlikely hero in the return leg, scoring the only goal to seal the Soca Warriors' qualification. We relive that engrossing match in Riffa.
They may have finished bottom of the South American qualification group for South Africa 2010, but things are looking up for Peru. Indeed, Jose del Solar's side beat both Bolivia and Uruguay in two of their final three preliminaries, and consequently climbed 17 places on the FIFA Coca-Cola World Ranking.
