Spotlight on: Faroe Islands
Faroe Islands' 2-1 defeat of Lithuania in September 2009 was their first competitive win since their Korea/Japan 2002 qualifying campaign. The newly created FIFA Puskás Award is something every football fan can play a valuable part in. Created in honour of Ferenc Puskás, the star of the Hungarian national team during the 1950s, the award recognises the most beautiful goal of the year scored by a male or female footballer.
Videos of the ten most beautiful goals of the year, as chosen by FIFA's Football Committee, will be posted on FIFA.com. From there, you have the power to decide! Fans will be able to vote for the best goal through a FIFA.com online poll and thus declare a winner. The first FIFA Puskás award will be handed out during December's 2009 FIFA World Player Gala.
