Muang Thong United secured the 2009 Thailand Premier League title with a dramatic injury-time winner against Osotspa in the penultimate match of the season.

The newly-promoted MTU had Cote d'Ivoire midfielder Yaya Soumahoro to thank with his brace securing a 2-1 win with the winner coming two minutes into injury time.

The victory gave MTU a three point advantage over perennial challengers Chonburi, who had kept their slim championship hopes alive with an ultimately academic 1-0 win over Navy Rayong. MTU confirming their title win thanks to a superior head-to-head record against Chonburi meaning they will still claim the crown should the teams finish deadlocked on points after the final round.

At the other end of the table Nakhon Pathom became the first of three teams to be relegated after drawing 1-1 with Samut Songkhram.
