Striking legends Ronaldo and Dwight Yorke will be at Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Sugarloaf Mountain on 3 July to watch the Grand Final of the FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC).

In its tenth year, this is the first time ever that a FIWC Grand Final will take place at the same time and in the same country as the FIFA World Cup™. Nearly two million players from around the globe attempted to qualify for the FIWC Grand Final and just 20 are left to compete for the title in Rio de Janeiro.

As well as the honour of being named FIWC World Champion, the winner will receive $20,000 USD and an invitation to the Ballon d’Or to rub shoulders with the best footballers in the world.

The four players who navigate their way through the group stages and the knockout rounds of the Grand Final at Fluminense Football Club on 2 July will meet at the Sugarloaf Mountain in the Final Showdown, where the semi-finals and final will be played. Watching the players battle it out will be Brazil’s Ronaldo and Trinidad and Tobago’s Dwight Yorke, who will then take on the winner in a game.

Speaking ahead of the Grand Final, Ronaldo said: “Personally I’ll be hoping Brazil’s Rafael Fortes makes it through to the final. Just imagine if Brazil won two World Cup trophies this month!”

FIFA’s Head of Strategy & Brand Management, Ralph Straus, added: “It is a landmark moment in FIFA Interactive World Cup history to host the tournament in the same country as the FIFA World Cup. We’re very excited to be hosting the Final Showdown at a truly iconic landmark in the presence of two footballing greats.”
