On 13 January, defending FIFA Interactive World Cup Champion Bruce Grannec will land in Zurich, Switzerland for a journey that only a lucky few get to embark on. As part of Bruce’s prize for winning the 2013 edition of the biggest gaming tournament in the world, the Frenchman and his guest will attend the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2013.

It’s a night every football fan dreams of. Bruce will shake hands, take photos and talk football with many of his biggest football heroes, after which everyone will settle into their seats to watch the world’s best players be crowned at the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2013 ceremony.

When you have the opportunity to experience something as amazing as this, the only thing you want to do is to train hard and win so that you can do it again

While the experience can be described as a once-in-a-lifetime event, this will in fact be Grannec’s second trip to the awards. After winning his first FIWC title in 2009, Bruce attended the 2009 edition of the awards ceremony, then still known as the FIFA World Player Gala. It’s been over three years since The Machine’s magical night in Zurich. For the two-time virtual football world champion, a return to the red carpet and a night in the company of world football’s brightest stars, is a huge motivating factor for his performance in the FIWC.

“To receive the opportunity to go to the FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony, where I got to meet players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Xavi... It was such a unique experience,” said Bruce of his first trip. “When you have the opportunity to experience something as amazing as this, the only thing you want to do is to train hard and win so that you can do it again.” And do it again he will!
