Disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the Liberian Football Association for having allegedly fielded an ineligible player in the preliminary competition match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ between Angola and Liberia (score: 4-1) on 7 September 2013.

With Angola and Liberia finishing third and fourth respectively in Group J of the African Zone qualifiers, and the result of the match in question being 4-1 in favour of Angola, Senegal will advance to round three regardless of the result of the disciplinary proceedings, having finished four points clear of Uganda at the top of the table.

The disciplinary proceedings relate to article 55 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code and article 8 of the Regulations for Brazil 2014.

The Liberian Football Association has been invited to provide its position to FIFA, together with any documentary evidence it might deem appropriate. FIFA will communicate any updates on the proceedings in due course.
