Hurry, hurry hurry! The hours are ticking away before the deadline passes to register your players for Matchday 3 of the McDonald's FIFA World Cup Fantasy Game. And if you haven't signed-up already, there is still time, and you could be in the hunt to win a truly fantastic prize.
The overall winner of the competition wins a trip for two to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. The highest-placed manager and his chosen companion will be given with a return economy flight to South Africa and tickets to all three group stage games of their favourite team with all hotel accommodation included!
At present drewhr79 and imclellan lead the early standings with 388 points, but there is still plenty to play for. Both of these respective managers have opted to play three strikers, so could that be key to overall success?
For those managers who might not have been as successful as those two, there is the chance to make transfers. You can shuffle your pack around as much as you like, but don't exceed your transfer budget of 100 points! Also, remember that the selection of your captain is a vitally important one, as he will score double points for your team. If the captain does not play, then all of your bonus points will be lost.
The best XI...so far!
The current dream team would be a 4-3-3 with El Salvador stopper Juan Gomez between the sticks, a European back four made up of Juan Capdevila (Spain), Marius Stankevicius (Latvia), Vasileios Torosidis (Greece) and Armend Dallku (Albania). The midfield includes the US's Clint Dempsey, Italy's Daniele De Rossi and Ukraine's Serhiy Nazarenko.
Up front, Spain's David Villa and Greece's Theofanis Gekas are the men in form, but the overall top scorer among the forwards, New Zealand's Shane Smeltz, will not be featuring in this particular matchday. Also, after scoring 36 points so far, El Salvador's Carlos de los Cobos is rated as the highest-ranked coach. However, Mexico's Rafael Marquez is the most selected player with almost 4,500 out of the 15,000 fantasy managers selecting the Barcelona defender.
However, you have almost 7,000 different names to choose from - so, what are you waiting for.
There's also the option to create a private league for your friends to join, you can also join a public league of managers who started at the same time as you and you can issue challenges to friends, family and fellow competitors.
McDonald's FIFA World Cup Fantasy Game - it's fun, friendly and free to play. Don't forget to register your team or make your transfers for Matchday 3 by the deadline which is Saturday 11 October at 06:30 CET.
