Fantasy managers have some careful decisions to make at the back as two jam-packed qualification matchdays approach. FIFA.com takes a closer look at defender, coach and goalkeeper selection for Matchdays' 12 and 13.
Best at the back
Dutch pair Joris Mathijsen and Andre Ooijer maintained their places in the top three defenders despite Netherlands absence from Matchday 11 fixtures. However, with Netherlands already qualified, will the pair feature in Bert van Marwijk's line-up for the fixture against Scotland?
Despite being part of a backline that leaked four goals against Honduras, Costa Rica's Jose Fernandez remains a top choice for over 20 per cent of managers. Similarly, Carlos Bocanegra remains in the top five defensive point scorers, despite the USA's loss to Mexico. Brazil's Lucio will have his boots full when A Seleção face two of South America's top teams in September. Can the captain lead his team to victory against the likes of Argentina and Chile?
Denmark's Daniel Agger, Serbia's Branislav Ivanovic, and Uruguay's Diego Lugano have also crossed the 80-point mark. Agger has been most impressive, helping ensure that the Danes have remained undefeated so far in qualification. Ivanovic faces the tough challenge of containing France on Matchday 13, while Lugano must try and inspire Uruguay back into the top four in South America; Uruguay face Peru and Colombia on Matchday's 12 and 13.
In between the posts, most of the highest scoring goalkeepers are available for both match days. The top five however, may prove a risky selection if you want to score points for a clean sheet as teams like Brazil, Honduras, Chile and USA face unpredictable fixtures. A clean sheet could return your Goalkeeper eight points, each of your defenders seven points, your midfielders three points and your forwards one point. Here are just a few of the potential clean-sheet fixtures: Malta-Sweden; Germany-Azerbajan; Russia-Liechtenstein; Rwanda-Egypt; Argentina-Peru.
Be sure to check the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings before making your coach selection. A safe bet on a favourite may net you nine points, but a smart bet on an underdog could return 18 points.
Some of the underdog coaches this matchday: Alain Giresse (Gabon); Rodrigo Kenton (Costa Rica); Diego Maradona (Argentina); Vladimir Weiss (Slovakia)
