In an incredibly close round, the top ten for Matchday 8 were separated by just ten points. FIFA.com looks at how the best fantasy managers managed to rake in the points.

The winning formula
Matchday 8 winner trstra opted for a 5-3-2 formation. The defensive-minded team proved fruitful for the Serbian fantasy manager, especially Hungarian defender Roland Juhasz who returned 24 points this matchday.

Second-placed blackdeva will be kicking himself for keeping Edin Dzeko on the bench. Famous forwards Lukas Podolski and Landon Donovan only returned a combined 14 points for the manager.

Once again, coach selection proved crucial and the top three for this matchday all chose the same man for the job. Bosnia-Herzegovina coach Miroslav Blazevic returned 18 points as his 58th ranked team beat 49th ranked Belgium. (Managers take note: if your coach leads his team to victory over a team with a higher FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, they earn you nine bonus points!)

The leaderboard
Only 53 points separate the top three who all managed to hold their positions despite the incredible amount of surprise performances this week. English teams Real Madric and Great Moo climbed into the top five this matchday; the two sides' respective managers employed a 5-3-2 combination to great effect.

Hat-trick heroes
Polish forward Ebi Smolarek was the highest scoring player this matchday. He scored four goals against San Marino, serving up 34 points for managers. USA's Jozy Altidore overshadowed his more famous team-mates as he scored a hat-trick against Trinidad and Tobago and Bolivia's Joaquin Botero scored the hat-trick of a lifetime as Bolivia marched to a 6-1 win over Argentina.

Best defenders
Hungary's Roland Juhasz pulled of the elusive defensive double  scoring a goal and helping his team keep a clean sheet (24 points). Chelsea captain John Terry's late strike was a dream goal, helping England overcome Ukraine and sending England fans and fantasy managers alike into an absolute frenzy (18 points).

Best midfielders
The two most impressive midfield performances came from an unlikely pair. Poland's Rafal Boguski returned 25 points, scoring two goals in his teams 10-0 dismantling of San Marino and Timofei Kalachev of Belarus scored a brace against Kazakhstan (22 points).
