Brazil and Argentina secured qualification to the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup on 12 February with victories against Uruguay and Paraguay, respectively, at the 2016 CONMEBOL Futsal Championship in Asuncion, Paraguay.

In the semi-final of the competition, Brazil defeated Uruguay 4-1, thanks to goals from Fernandinho, Rafael, Bateria and Marcenio, while Argentina and Paraguay played out a 3-3 draw, before La Albiceleste edged La Albirroja in a dramatic penalty shootout.

The third and final ticket to Colombia 2016 for a South American side will be at stake in the match for third place on February 13 between losing semi-finalists Uruguay and hosts Paraguay.

The 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup will take place between 10 September and 1 October.
