Steve McClaren's Twente will play Arsenal in the third qualifying round to the UEFA Champions League later this month. McClaren, 47, who was sacked as England coach after their failure to qualify for UEFA EURO 2008, took over at the Dutch side in June on a two-year deal.

Twente are making their Champions League debut after defeating Ajax in a play-off last season. Liverpool face Belgian outfit Standard Liege, while Rangers will come up against either Denmark's Aalborg or Bosnian team Modrica providing they first see off FBK Kaunas.

Irish champions Drogheda take on Spartak Moscow as long as they can reverse a 2-1 first leg deficit against Dinamo Kiev. Atletico Madrid were drawn with Germany's Schalke, and France's former European champions Marseille will battle either Brann or Ventspils.

The winners of the third qualifying round will go into the lucrative first group stage of the competition. Friday's draw was made at UEFA headquarters in Nyon.
