Partner of CIES since 2004, the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) has officially launched the 8th edition of the UCA/FIFA/CIES Programme in law and management of sport. The classes will start in May 2011.

For the past seven years, the UCA/FIFA/CIES Programme has brought together more than 250 students not only from Argentina, but also from Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil, Panama, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Mexico. This demonstrates its excellent reputation within the South American sport community. The Programme enables people from various professional and sporting horizons to familiarise themselves with modern management tools in key areas such as marketing, sponsoring, law, management, communication, finance and event management. Adapted to regional and national realities, it also offers the opportunity to attend lectures given by international FIFA/CIES experts.

“The international conferences and the field visits, such as the ones to AFA or to the FIH World Cup, are strong assets for the Programme (…) Finally, I really enjoyed following this course in the company of professors and students well introduced in the sport market and full of bright ideas to develop” commented Alejando Steffan, alumni of the 7th edition of the Programme. For his part, Nicolás Abud, another student, added: “The Programme largely exceeded my initial expectations (…) I strongly recommend it because it provides a well-rounded – professional, human and sport-related - continuing education and because it is delivered with a spirit of excellence”.

The International University Network created in the framework of the FIFA/CIES Programme comprises 14 universities, namely, the Universidad Católica Argentina in Buenos Aires, the Universidad Santo Tomás in Santiago (Chile), the Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar (Senegal), the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth (South Africa), the University of South Africa in Pretoria, the Cairo University in Egypt, the Universidad de Costa Rica in San José, the University of the West Indies in Port of Spain (Trinidad & Tobago), the Birzeit University in Ramallah (Palestine), the Bahcesehir University in Istanbul (Turkey), the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine in Kiev, the University King Juan Carlos in Madrid (Spain), the Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas (Venezuela) and the Fundação Getulio Vargas en Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
