As part of its Win in Africa with Africa initiative, FIFA has released a veritable encyclopaedia of African football. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and to set the scene for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, this boxset of five DVDs details the continent's rich footballing history. FIFA has decided to make this treasure trove of written, photographic and video information available to all on FIFA.com.
These historical archives, which have been painstakingly compiled, categorised and edited by the Tunisian journalist Faouzi Mahjoub, are also available in a boxset of five DVDs that comprise no fewer than 7,000 documents, 2,000 photos, hundreds of press cuttings, exclusive interviews and the best goals scored by African teams at the FIFA World Cup.
FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter, in explaining the reasons behind the hard work that was necessary to compile these African football archives from sources that are often dispersed, incomplete and forgotten, said: "We want to celebrate the memory of the figures who form part of this history and preserve it for fans who are too young to remember what were unforgettable times. This tribute also gives us an opportunity to show our support for a continent with tremendous potential."
