Since making his debut at the 1999 Copa America, Gerardo Torrado has become a permanent fixture in the Mexico set-up, in which time he has brought his special blend of commitment and passion to the Tricolor cause.

After recovering from a serious injury that sidelined him for several months, the 34-year-old powerhouse midfielder enjoyed an excellent end to the Mexican league season with Cruz Azul, doing enough to convince national team coach Jose Manuel de la Torre to recall him to a talented but youthful Mexico side that could use some experience.

The No6 will be back on duty in Brazil, ready to knock opposing playmakers off their game with his fighting spirit and help Mexico maintain the high standards they have grown accustomed to since he pulled on the green jersey for the first time.
