Ahmed Musa is another of the incredibly talented Nigerian youngsters who seem destined to take the Super Eagles into a new generation of success. Although only 20, the forward, who starred for the Flying Eagles at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup, held the record for the highest number of goals scored in one season in the Nigerian Premier League (18 for Kano Pillars during the 2009/10 season).

He then joined Dutch club VVV-Venlo, but could only play for them once he had turned 18 on 14 October 2010. Once he started playing in the Eredivisie, it was only a matter of time that bigger clubs came calling and Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax and an unnamed Bundesliga club, who had a €10m offer turned-down, showed an interest in the speedy forward, who can play as a winger on both sides of the pitch, as well as in the middle of the park.

During the winter transfer period of 2012, his Dutch club could no longer resist all the temptation and Musa moved to CSKA Moscow, quickly establishing himself for the Russian club. He has been on form this season scoring a number of vital goals in both the league and cup with his ample league tally helping the Moscow club towards an 11th league title, and, of course, he helped Nigeria lift a third continental title earlier this year.
