An attacking midfielder, Atani has been a constant presence in the Tahiti line-up since the team achieved historic qualification for the Festival of Champions last year.

Also capable of playing in the forward line, Atani is yet another graduate of Tahiti’s only previous appearance on the world stage: the FIFA U-20 World Cup Egypt 2009. However, Atani’s only match time four years ago was as a second-half substitute in an 8-0 defeat against Brazil 2013 opponents Spain.

After featuring at the 2011 Pacific Games, Atani missed out on last June’s historic OFC Nations Cup win. Since then he has made every post a winner securing selection in all six of Tahiti’s third and final round qualifying matches for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™, despite the fact that coach Eddy Etaeta adopted an experimental policy for much of the campaign's latter stages.

Atani plays his club football for AS Tefana, and featured heavily in the club’s run to the 2012 OFC Champions League final.
