Within the first 48 hours of the second sales phase for the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013, more than 51,000 tickets had been sold by Sunday 17 February 12h00 CET, of which nearly 49,000 had been snapped up by Brazilian fans. This despite the technical challenges faced during the start of the sales phase on Friday 15 February, but which were solved only a few hours later by service provider MATCH Services AG.

The most popular matches so far have proven to be Mexico against Italy in Rio de Janeiro, Italy versus Japan in Recife and Spain's game against Tahiti, also at the Maracana in Rio. The categories most in demand so far are Category 4, with more than 25,000 tickets having been purchased, followed by Category 1, with nearly 15,000 tickets sold. “During the first-come-first-serve sales phase we can now see that Brazilians are looking forward to experiencing football at its best this coming June. The ticket orders clearly show that Brazilians really embrace all eight teams and want to see the champions playing live at one of the six FIFA World Cup stadiums. We urge football fans to purchase their tickets now and not to wait and risk missing out”, explains Thierry Weil, FIFA Marketing Director and in charge of ticket sales at the governing body of football.

It is important to note that due to the high interest in FIFA Confederations Cup tickets, fans may temporarily be transferred to the waiting room until they are able to process their request. The waiting room has been introduced specifically to ensure that fans who come first will be served first to process their ticket orders. The ticket section on www.FIFA.com/ticketing is updated in real time so that football fans can constantly keep checking the availability of tickets for each match and each category. Furthermore, Brazilians who are paying with the Boleto system, a kind of bank transfer, are kindly reminded to make sure the payments are effected within the requested time frame because otherwise the ticket order will be cancelled and the tickets reallocated into public sale.
