FIFA Confederation Cup tickets available online in schools

The “Free Access: My School Connected to the Cup” project will be introduced in the first half of December and aims to give every member of the public the chance to apply for tickets to the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013.

The first batch of Brazil 2013 tickets will be on sale exclusively at FIFA.com between 3 December 2012 and 15 January 2013. In a bid to open up the ticket application process to everyone, the Brazilian government will set up special internet access points at 7,600 state schools in the tournament’s six Host Cities and in 93 of the country’s metropolitan municipalities.

“Though internet access has spread quickly across the country, not everyone is connected yet,” explained Brazilian Minister of Sport Aldo Rebelo. “That’s why we’ve set up this initiative, to give everyone the same opportunities to apply for tickets.”

The “Free Access: My School Connected to the Cup” project will be coordinated by the national ministries of education and sport, with the support of state and municipal education departments and the heads of the schools that have volunteered to participate in it.

Volunteers from the schools themselves will also be lending their support, and will take part in a special FIFA-sponsored draw for free tickets to games played in their host cities.
